Tom Goldman, Chief Executive Officer

Tom Goldman is an accomplished technology industry executive with a track record of rapidly increasing companies' revenue and profitability. Most recently, Goldman served as CEO for NetBotz, where the company grew to become the leader in the IT infrastructure protection market and was subsequently acquired by APC. Goldman served as President and Chief Operating Officer of enterprise software company Apogee Networks, where he grew and led the company to become the global leader in its market. Prior to Apogee Networks, he held senior management positions at Xerox Connect, Bell Atlantic Network Integration, Lipe-Rollway and DataNet, Inc. and has held executive positions at several other start-up companies.

James Dollar, VP, Product Strategy, Founder

Mr. Dollar is a respected technology innovator with 15 years experience designing and managing network communication infrastructures. Before founding Uplogix he was a key network architect at several application service providers, responsible for 99.999% application and network availability. Mr. Dollar has spent over a decade with world-class organizations such as The Coca-Cola Company and Reliant Energy, driving key aspects of technology and network architecture strategies. Mr. Dollar received his BBA from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Ken Kieley, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Kieley brings a depth of experience at leading technology companies in finance, accounting and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Uplogix, Mr. Kieley served as the Chief Financial Officer of Wayport, Inc. through its acquisition by AT&T. Prior to his position at Wayport, Mr. Kieley served as VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Netsolve, Inc., which was acquired by Cisco. He began his career at Ernst & Young in Dallas, working in accounting, financing, merger and acquisition and consulting engagements.

Preston Lawhorne, VP, Sales

Mr. Lawhorne brings over 30 years of successful, proven sales and management experience to Uplogix. He was most recently Vice President of North American Sales at TippingPoint where he was instrumental in making TippingPoint the leader in network prevention security. Previously, Mr. Lawhorne was area vice president for the southeastern U.S. at Network Associates, regional director for Oracle Corporation, vice president of North American sales at Memorex Telex Corporation for the mid-range systems division, western area sales manager at Stratus Computer, and regional manager for Data General. He began his career at Burroughs Corporation where he held various sales and sales management positions over a fourteen year period.

Michael Luther, VP, Corporate Strategy

Mr. Luther brings experience in building, financing, and managing early stage communications technology companies. Previously, Mr. Luther co-founded Bandspeed, an Austin-based wireless technology company, where he served as CEO for five years. Among its innovations, Bandspeed’s technology for interference mitigation is used in virtually every Bluetooth-enabled device sold today. Mr. Luther previously worked for Cisco in business development evaluating strategic partnerships and investments in broadband access companies. Previously, Mr. Luther worked in investment banking for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and focused on corporate finance and M&A. Mr. Luther received his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and his BA from Dartmouth College.

Mike Marshall, VP, Products

Mike Marshall brings a breadth of entrepreneurial, consulting, and corporate experience to Uplogix where he manages development of next generation solutions for Automated Remote Management. Prior to Uplogix, Mr. Marshall served as president and founder of Storategy - an IT storage consulting firm for international hardware and software companies. Previously, Mr. Marshall was Director of Technology at StorageProvider, a leading MSP for storage-based solutions. Mr. Marshall also spent 10 years at Compaq bringing new products to market. Mike received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Mark Piening, VP, Product Management and Marketing

Mr. Piening brings a broad range of product management, marketing and business development experience from leading technology companies. Most recently, Mr. Piening served as Senior Director for Symantec where he led the Global Partner and SMB Marketing teams. Prior to Symantec, Mr. Piening directed the Dell Global Alliance for VERITAS Software. His other marketing, sales, product management and business development leadership roles include Series A, pre-IPO, small cap and large public companies like Dell, DIGEX (now Verizon), and Ernst and Young. Mr. Piening is a former CPA with an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from UNC Kenan-Flagler and a BA in Economics/Business from UCLA.
