Uplogix Teams With RSA, The Security Division of EMC, to Deliver Enhanced Remote Management Security

Envoy Management Appliance Receives RSA SecuredĀ® Certification and Uplogix Joins the RSA Secured Partner Program

AUSTIN, Texas – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Uplogix, the leading provider of remote management solutions, today announced that it has joined the RSA Secured® Partner Program and has been awarded RSA Secured certification, confirming Uplogix Envoy’s technical interoperability with industry-leading RSA SecurID® two-factor authentication technology from RSA, the Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC). The two companies will work together to provide joint customers with secure and robust remote management solutions.

As a result of technical cooperation between Uplogix and RSA, enterprises can benefit from increased security for the IT devices being managed by Uplogix solutions. Using a RSA SecurID authenticator, such as a hardware token, users of the Uplogix management appliance can now automatically and securely log into a managed device, such as a network router or server, to perform a necessary configuration or recovery action – just like a system administrator would normally do if performing the same operation manually.

Using Uplogix solutions, enterprises can consistently employ RSA’s two-factor authentication solution whether managing IT devices in-band over the primary network connection when available, or using an out-of-band connection during network outages or disruptions.

"Through this technology partnership we are able to offer customers an added level of security when managing their distributed IT assets," said Barry Cox, chief technology officer, Uplogix. "By creating technical interoperability between RSA's two-factor authentication technology and Uplogix's remote management solutions, customers get a consistent security interface regardless of when or how they access their IT devices."

The RSA SecurID system is the world’s most widely used two-factor user authentication solution. It is as simple to use as entering a password, but significantly more secure. Used in conjunction with RSA Authentication Manager software, an RSA SecurID authenticator functions like an ATM card for a company network, requiring users to identify themselves with two unique factors -- something they know (a password or PIN), and something they have (such as an RSA SecurID key fob token) -- before they are granted access to secure business information.
