How virtual administration works

By connecting via the console port to the systems and devices you need to manage, the Uplogix Envoy appliance can securely and reliably provide a whole host of management functions, regardless of the state of the network. In fact, Uplogix Envoy was specifically designed to perform more than 60% of normal maintenance tasks – like OS upgrades, patch distribution, password updates, routine recovery and configuration changes.

Safety Net Protects System Availability
In addition to saving your team valuable time by automating routine tasks, Uplogix Envoy ensures that system-wide network security and configuration changes are made using consistent, repeatable and secure methods to minimize the risk associated with making changes manually. Using local memory and storage, each Envoy retains a cache of up-to-date, detailed configuration information about each managed device. Any changes can be rolled back on a session or device basis and automatically restored to the pre-change state using SurgicalRollback™, virtually eliminating the effects of incompatible or incorrect configuration changes that affect network or system availability.

The Power of an Integrated Platform
The Envoy can work as a standalone appliance, or in conjunction with the Uplogix management console – the Envoy Management Station (EMS). Via the EMS, simultaneous changes can be issued enterprise-wide to multiple devices with a few mouse clicks. For instance, network managers can push out mass configuration changes to Envoy appliances via the network, rather than addressing each router and switch on an individual basis.
